French, Culture & Gastronomy

Perfect your French while discovering the local gastronomy.

From 2 to 4 weeks

  • 20 hours of French lessons per week (mornings)
  • Visits & Excursions: City of La Rochelle, Île d’Aix, Fort Liédot, local producers of Pineau des Charentes and Cognac, Cité du Vin in Bordeaux, Île de Ré (discovering the ‘flavours’ of the island by Tuk-Tuk), museums, etc.
  • Workshops & Lectures: culinary arts, oenology with wine tastings, cookery classes, etc.

The course allows participants to experience complete language immersion to improve their communication skills. In addition to classroom lessons, the IEF organises visits and trips where cultural activities and discoveries are combined with language learning. As part of this course you will have the opportunity to take part in a wide range of sports in the afternoons and evenings. You can choose from swimming, hiking, judo and many others.

La Rochelle, a historic, maritime city and seaside resort, will charm you with the splendour of its surroundings. There are sports and leisure activities to suit all tastes. During this summer course, the IEF offers you the opportunity to take part in a wide range of watersports, such as kayaking, catamaran sailing, windsurfing and yachting. Make the most of your language stay to indulge in all the watersports our beautiful coastal city has to offer and immerse yourself in the sporting life of La Rochelle.

This IEF summer course offers students high-quality French lessons and the chance to experience a complete immersion in the heart of a living heritage where they can learn more about the Acadians. In addition to classroom lessons, students have the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of these French settlers, enjoying cultural visits that combine history with genealogy.
